  4. How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
  5. Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
  6. But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
  7. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

No commandment for Gentiles to keep the law

Galatians 2:14-21
  1. But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
  2. We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
  3. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

  5. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
  6. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
  7. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
  8. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Acts 15:22-29
  1. Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
  2. And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:
  3. Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
  4. It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
  5. Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  6. We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
  7. For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
  8. That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth?

Galatians 3:1-5, 10-14
  1. O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
  2. This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
  3. Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
  4. Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
  5. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
  1. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
  2. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
  3. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
  4. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Warning

Colossians 2:8, 16-17, 20-23
  1. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
  1. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
  2. Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
  1. Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
  2. (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
  3. Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
  4. Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

2 Corinthians 6:1
  1. We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

Do

  2. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
  3. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
  4. For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
